Sedgwick County announces early voting, residency expansion with Wichita Center and multiple procurement items

On contracts and personnel, Tom presented an amendment to a continuing agreement with the Wichita Center for Graduate Medical Education that would allow the county to host year-3 psychiatric residents with Comcare. Tom said the amendment carries an approximate fiscal note of $125,000 per year. Anne (staff member) clarified that the current agreement covers six residents and the amendment would allow the county to take seven, including child psychiatry residents.
Tom also summarized consent and new-business items: a proclamation declaring pretrial probation and parole supervision week, a chairman's appointment to the aging board; a right-of-way easement for a District 3 bridge with a $14,000 fiscal note; and the Clearwater Island annexation (Tom said it is approximately the twentieth annexation in that area).
Procurement items included a competitive-bid award for a three-quarter-ton cargo van for animal control; Tom said the county accepted the lowest bid from about 106 bids submitted. The fire department also requested purchase of thermal imaging cameras and related budget authority to complete that acquisition; the fire budget will be presented during the regular budget discussion.
Tom noted a previously pulled request to enter a fire district on 135th Street was deferred and will be moved from the July 22 meeting to an August 5 meeting at the applicant's request. No formal votes on these items were recorded in the meeting transcript.
