At its Aug. 20 meeting the Hainesport Township Board of Education approved multiple finance and operations items intended to prepare the district for the 2024–25 year.
The board authorized Christopher C. DeSanto, the business administrator/board secretary, as a district signatory on Citizens Bank accounts effective July 1, 2024, and later designated him as the district’s Purchasing Agent under Qualified Purchasing Agent thresholds. Members also approved routine financial reports (Board Secretary’s and Treasurer’s reports for June 2024), appropriation adjustments and payment-of-bills items.
Resolutions passed included authorizing the transfer of 2023–24 surplus to reserves, submitting the annual toilet room facilities form to the county superintendent, and authorizing submission and acceptance of annual ESEA and IDEA grant applications. The purchasing manual for the business office was approved for 2024–25.
The board also approved a $0.25 increase in school lunch prices for the coming year (raising the lunch price to $3.25) and introduced a school breakfast program at $2.25. A slate of safety and operational plans — including the Crisis Management Plan, School Safety and Security Plan, Indoor Air Quality Plan, Exposure Control Plan and several others — were listed and approved for the 2024–25 school year.
Field trips and recent safety drills were recorded, including a preschool trip scheduled for Sept. 27 and drills in July. The business administrator and committee chair presented the items, and roll calls recorded motions as carried.
