Green Township delays vote on data‑center ban pending Land Use Board input

The Green Township Committee on May 4 carried to a future meeting Ordinance 2026-04, which would amend the township code to prohibit data centers in all zones. Committee member Margaret “Peg” Phillips said the ordinance was carried because information from the Land Use Board had not been received and could not be considered.
No members of the public offered comment during the public hearing portion of the agenda for this ordinance, but later in Open Public Session resident Elly Lessin said the ordinance is "well researched" and that she hopes the committee approves it. Another commenter, Austin Neary, said he supports the measure and used the public comment time also to thank the Allamuchy‑Green First Aid Squad for saving his life five years ago after an anaphylactic episode.
The committee took no final action on the data‑center ordinance and the matter will be on a future agenda once the Land Use Board provides information for committee consideration.
