Authority advances stormwater plan and BMP inspection rules; public works updates equipment procurement and Edgemont assessment

The Susquehanna Township Authority heard updates on stormwater planning and public works equipment and scheduling. Engineer Josiah Bair reported a kickoff meeting for the Stormwater Comprehensive Plan was held on June 12 and Workshop No. 1 is scheduled for July 9 to coordinate planning and stakeholder input.
Stormwater Management Coordinator Kathleen Geigley told the board staff will begin a BMP Self-Inspection Program and start the process to amend the Stormwater Ordinance to strengthen inspection requirements and establish annual BMP inspections; she said additional updates would be provided as the program develops. In response to a question from Yves Pollart, staff reported that recent rain events had not produced new issues requiring immediate action.
Bair also updated the board on the Edgemont paving project: stormwater assets that cross roadways are being evaluated and categorized as needing replacement, monitoring, or further investigation, with staff assessing repair options for completion in-house or by contractors and developing budget estimates. Interim Public Works Director Travis Mease said the Trimble equipment under consideration is not eligible through COSTARS and that the department is still seeking comparable pricing; he reported a new track hoe has been used in the Public Works yard and is expected to be deployed first at the Wedgewood Pool project.
The updates were informational; no ordinance text was presented for adoption at the meeting.
