MU Extension asks Mountain Grove to continue annual contribution and in-kind building support

A representative of the MU Extension office addressed the council on May 11 to present the office's 2025 review, 2026 program list and a request that the city continue an annual $6,100 contribution and provide building and utilities support.
The presenter said the office leverages modest local funding into broader local economic activity: "For every $1 that we're given, we can usually turn that into 13 for the local economy... that comes out to about $79,000 a year that we're able to put back into Wright County," the extension representative said.
City staff noted a form the extension must complete before the council votes on continuing the funding; the administrator said the form would be provided and the council will consider the matter at a future vote. Council members asked for metrics on attendance and program impact; the extension representative said attendance numbers and walk-in traffic metrics are available and typically provided at in-person presentations.
