Ruthven council approves demo grant payout, pay application and sets hearing on 2026–27 tax levy

The Ruthven City Council on Feb. 25 approved a set of routine administrative measures and set a public hearing on next year’s tax levies. Mayor Dustin Johnson presided over the session at the Ruthven Social Center.
Council members Hailey Derrickson, Morgan Miller and Maya Naig voted to approve the Jan. 14, 2026 minutes, the claims report, the city clerk’s financials and a demo grant payout after a motion by Morgan Miller, seconded by Maya Naig. The motion carried with the three present members voting yes; Terrence Williams and Mitch Anderson were recorded as absent.
In separate votes the council approved pay application No. 16 on a motion by Maya Naig, seconded by Morgan Miller, and approved hanging banners on the city’s light poles after a motion by Hailey Derrickson, seconded by Morgan Miller. Each of those motions carried with Derrickson, Miller and Naig voting aye and Williams and Anderson absent.
The council also moved, on a motion by Morgan Miller seconded by Maya Naig, to adopt Resolution No. 08-2026, which sets the time and place for a public hearing to consider the maximum tax dollars from certain levies for the City of Ruthven’s proposed fiscal year 2026–2027 budget. The resolution passed with the same 3–0 vote among members present; absent members were noted.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:42 p.m. The meeting record was signed by Dustin Johnson, Mayor of Ruthven, and Jessica Schneider, City Clerk.
