At its Aug. 28 meeting, the Borough of Ogdensburg Mayor and Council adopted Ordinance 11‑2023, adding Section 18‑8 to Chapter 18 (MS4) on privately owned salt storage, and introduced Ordinance 12‑2023 on refuse containers/dumpsters with a public hearing set for Sept. 11.
The council approved routine consent items and a register of payments across Current, Grant, Water Operating and Payroll funds; the Current fund subtotal in the meeting record totaled $139,117.06. Council also approved adoption of executive session minutes from Aug. 14 (with two abstentions noted for that vote).
During the public session representatives Jennifer Friend and Miranda Hnyda of the Wallkill Valley First Aid Squad asked if the borough would consider parting with an ambulance. Mayor George P. Hutnick said both ambulances are kept in a climate‑controlled garage but have mechanical issues; borough staff will inspect their condition. Judy Perentin of the Ogdensburg Historical Society requested permission to distribute a flyer with the borough newsletter and described maintenance and ADA improvements needed at the historical building.
Other agenda items included updates on Heaters Pond (closure Sept. 3 and planned treatment), peddler permits to be described in the borough newsletter, draft language for auctioning certain borough properties (with several lots removed from a proposed list), and a recommendation to test the borough’s mass notification system prior to the next meeting.
The council adjourned at 9:09 p.m.
