Victor Central highlights AP gains, graduation and five-peat girls lacrosse at July board meeting

Superintendent Timothy Terranova used the July 9 Board of Education meeting to summarize academic and extracurricular achievements across the district.

Highlights included the 312 members of the Class of 2026 who graduated on June 22 at ESL Ballpark, and improved Advanced Placement participation and performance: 501 students took a combined 1,332 AP exams this year, and 95 percent of those students scored a 3 or higher, Terranova said, marking a rise from previous years. The superintendent credited curriculum development and instruction for the gains.

Terranova also noted expansion of the district’s work-based learning program, increased dual-credit course enrollment, and partnerships with neighboring districts for regional summer school (about 150 students from six districts participated). Athletic accomplishments received recognition as well: the district’s girls lacrosse team earned its fifth consecutive New York State championship, and 35 graduates have committed to play college athletics this fall.

The board thanked staff for graduation and summer programs and highlighted efforts by custodial, scheduling and administrative teams to prepare buildings for the new school year. Dr. Megan Molina, the district’s recently appointed assistant superintendent for pupil services, was introduced and welcomed.

Trustees were reminded of upcoming family engagement events including playground nights in August and orientation programs for incoming students and staff.
