Philipstown board approves appointments, stormwater agreement and FEMA-funded road project bids

The Philipstown Town Board approved several routine but consequential items at its July meeting, including two appointments to town boards, authorization of a stormwater-management agreement and permission to solicit bids for a FEMA-funded road project.

Two appointments were approved: Mackie London was appointed to the conservation board for a two-year term ending March 3, 2027, and Michael Chung was appointed to the zoning board of appeals for a term expiring March 31, 2031. Both appointments were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.

The board also authorized the supervisor to sign a stormwater management and erosion- and sediment-control agreement with Danes Properties LLC for work on a parcel on Route 9 just south of East Mountain Road North. Town officials said the town attorney, the town engineer and the property’s engineers had reviewed the agreement and it was ready for signature.

Separately, the board authorized the town clerk to put a FEMA-funded East Mountain Road South channel-widening project out for bid. Board members said state and federal approvals had been obtained and the project was ready to proceed to solicitation.

A proposed local law to add zoning code section 175-53 addressing short-term rental regulations was introduced but tabled for a workshop review. Members asked for additional internal review and a long-form environmental assessment form (EAF) because the proposal represents a new, townwide zoning use; the item will return to a workshop session on July 15.

The meeting closed after routine voucher approvals and scheduling of upcoming meetings.
