The North Wilkesboro Board of Commissioners on April 7 awarded the 13th Street repair project to Mathis & Sons Grading and adopted a policy allowing the town manager to sell surplus personal property under $30,000.
Manager Eddie Holland reported Public Utilities Director David Poore completed project work and that Mathis & Sons Grading was the apparent low bidder at $59,550. Commissioner Kristopher Hurley moved to award the 13th Street repair project to Mathis & Sons Grading; Commissioner Andrew Palmer seconded and the motion passed unanimously (5-0).
Separately, Town Attorney Victoria Brooks presented a proposed policy authorizing the town manager to sell personal property valued under $30,000 at fair market value, a recommendation from the UNC School of Government intended to reduce staff time and advertising costs. Commissioner Hurley moved to adopt the policy and Commissioner Palmer seconded; the motion passed unanimously (5-0).
The meeting record does not include contract execution details or a sales process timeline for the surplus-property policy; staff are authorized to proceed under the adopted measures.
