Warren County ABC Board appoints new member, approves HVAC work and orders 2,000 reusable bags

The Warren County ABC Board met on March 6, 2025, in the conference room at the Norlina ABC store and approved several operational measures, including the appointment of a new board member and facility and merchandising expenditures.
Chairman Victor Hunt called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. and read the Conflict of Interest Disclaimer. General Manager and Finance Officer Jamie H. Williams provided staff reports on finances, facilities and inventory.
The board appointed Corei Somerville to the Warren County ABC Board after considering two interest-to-serve forms, one from Charlene Sims and one from Somerville. Henry Durham Jr. moved to appoint Somerville; the motion was seconded by Danylu Hundley and approved.
The board approved a motion authorizing Williams to proceed with installation of an HVAC unit and associated electrical work in the Lake Gaston warehouse, with a not-to-exceed amount of $4,800. Effie Adams made the motion; Henry Durham Jr. seconded, and the motion was approved.
On facility maintenance, Williams presented a quote to resurface and reseal the parking lots at both store locations to protect the asphalt and extend service life. Board members recommended that Williams obtain a second quote and present it at the next meeting for comparison.
The board approved an order of 2,000 reusable "Talk it Out" bags for the upcoming busy season. The motion was made by Henry Durham Jr., seconded by Danylu Hundley, and approved.
Williams delivered a brief financial report, saying January sales were up year-over-year while February sales were slightly down, mirroring a statewide pattern. She reported that the Norlina store loan is expected to be paid off in April 2025 and that $250,000 has been paid down on the Lake store's principal balance. Williams also said she is preparing the budget for the next fiscal year and reviewing projects and employee retention incentives.
On inventory, Williams presented variance reports showing overages and shortages and noted that Rob Snow, the Lake Store manager, is conducting inventory twice monthly to improve accuracy and product familiarity.
With no further business, Hunt adjourned the meeting at 9:19 a.m.
