The Zeeland Planning Commission on Nov. 6, 2025, voted unanimously to recommend rezoning a 0.48-acre portion of the property at 500 N. Centennial St. (Redlum 12:2 LLC) from the I-1 Light Industrial zoning district to I-2 General Industrial.
Zoning Administrator Timothy Maday introduced the item and said staff recommended approval, describing the rezoning as a step to allow consistent zoning and the transfer of ownership. Maday said staff did not anticipate any visual or operational changes to the site and confirmed that, if the commission’s resolution is adopted, it will be forwarded to City Council for final action at its Nov. 17, 2025 meeting.
Commissioner Dan Klompmaker moved to adopt Resolution 2025.26 recommending the rezoning; Commissioner Sheri Holstege supported the motion. The roll-call vote recorded Commissioners Rebecca Perkins, Sheri Holstege, Glenn Kass, Dan Klompmaker, Kevin Klynstra, Tim Klunder and Chairman Bill Elhart voting aye; there were no nays. Commissioners Amanda Cooper and Bob Blanton were absent. The motion passed and the recommendation will be transmitted to City Council.
Motion details: Motion 2025.26 sought to rezone a 0.48-acre portion of 500 N. Centennial from I-1 to I-2. The commission recorded a unanimous vote in favor. No amendments to the resolution were proposed during the discussion.
Next steps: The commission’s recommendation will be included in the City Council packet for the Nov. 17, 2025 council meeting for Council consideration. No public hearing or additional conditions were recorded in the Planning Commission minutes for this item.
Meeting note: Zoning Administrator Maday also recorded two letters from a resident at 28 S. Sanford concerning an unrelated remediation matter at 725 E. Main Avenue (Mead Johnson); Mead Johnson had informed staff it would not attend the meeting. Those letters were included in the meeting record and not acted on during this agenda item.
