The Paramus Board of Health voted unanimously March 23 to approve the Paramus Health Department's 2026 operating budget, a move board members said will allow the department to continue basic services and grant-funded programs.
The resolution (No. 26-1-11) was moved by board member Felecia Burger and seconded by Tina DiPiazza. A roll call vote recorded yeas from President Dr. Eric Nazziola, Burger, Joan Piazza and DiPiazza; there were no nays or abstentions. The board recorded that Secretary Joanna Adamiak will submit the approved budget to the Borough Administrator, the chief financial officer and the Mayor and Council for municipal-level approval as required by the resolution.
Board members did not debate line-item amounts during the meeting. Members discussed grant balances reported earlier in staff presentations: as of March 1, 2026 the Enhancing Local Public Health Capacity Grant had recorded expenditures of $384,459 leaving $1,692 remaining, and the Sustaining Local Public Health Capacity Grant had recorded expenditures of $123,497 leaving $44,551; both grants end March 31, 2026.
The vote concludes the board's formal action on the department operating budget for 2026; the budget now moves to the borough administration and mayor and council for subsequent steps specified in the resolution.
