Campton selectmen authorize emergency road repairs, hire Dirt Designs and rebid a costly culvert estimate

The Board also voted to hire Dirt Designs to help the Highway Department catch up on road work. The motion to accept Dirt Designs’ proposal was made by Selectman Engel, seconded by Selectman Donahue and passed unanimously. O'Connor said Kevin Coburn has been assisting the Highway Crew by training them on grading techniques.
Regarding Perch Pond Road, O'Connor explained a culvert that begins level but slopes near the end and slows water flow; Selectman Sherrill Howard moved to put the repair out to bid, the motion was seconded by Selectman Donahue and unanimously approved.
The Board declined a single bid from Mechanical Epoxy Solutions after the quote arrived roughly $50,000 higher than a previous estimate and the vendor had not answered follow-up inquiries. Selectman Howard moved to reject that bid and rebid the work; Selectman Sharon Davis seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Kevin Coburn noted he knows companies that might be able to help with the work.
Separately, the Board authorized the Town Administrator to take items to auction to improve staff efficiency, a change recommended by Town Attorney Michael Courtney and approved on a motion by Selectman Sherrill Howard.
The Board did not specify exact contract amounts, vendors beyond the names above, or completion dates during the meeting; contracting and bidding processes will proceed administratively.
