CIP committee sets May, June meeting dates and targets spreadsheet review; flags projects for inclusion

The Capital Improvements Program Committee set two meeting dates to begin the 2026 capital projects review and agreed to prioritize updates to the committee’s CIP spreadsheet.

Members agreed to meet on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 and Tuesday, June 16, 2026, both at 5 p.m., to review Department Head requests and finalize spreadsheet formatting in time for the town’s budget presentation timeline. Donald Milbrand explained the typical process: the committee works backward from presentation deadlines for the Planning Board, Budget Committee and Select Board in September and October to compile a report and worksheet that feed the annual budget schedule.

Staff indicated the Select Board had not yet set its budget calendar; the committee therefore tentatively selected presentation dates and said it would finalize a schedule at its next meeting once the Select Board’s timeline is confirmed. Committee members discussed anticipated spreadsheet updates including adding lines for a proposed new police/fire building, equipment replacement schedules, new Solid Waste Department details and possible entries related to Town parks and the Pemi Path Trail. They also confirmed they will continue to meet with Department Heads as part of the review process.

The committee noted the CIP report is advisory and not a budget document; the Select Board retains responsibility for funding decisions. The committee emphasized public access to the process through public meetings, published minutes, presentations to other boards and the final report in the Town Report.
