HBI to present at Dog Days of Summer; DOT to place two county signs at no cost

Staff said they have requested signs for the event and county wayfinding. The Iowa Department of Transportation told the commission it can place two signs on Highway 34 at no charge; two other signs—intended for the county’s north and south entrances—would need to be placed by county crews. DOT provided a cost estimate for the signs of less than $400.
Commissioners discussed logistics for the event and signage placement; no formal appropriation for sign installation was recorded in the minutes. Staff noted follow-up is required to schedule DOT placements and arrange county installation of the remaining signs.
The Dog Days event is scheduled for July 16; HBI’s presentation there will be an opportunity for outreach to veterans and the public.
