Campton CIP Committee updates matrix, considers hiring mechanic and adding police vehicles to capital plan

Committee member Karl Kelly told the Campton CIP Committee that he and a colleague updated the capital improvements matrix and that Kate will contact the Transfer Station manager about the pole barn. Kelly said the matrix edits were intended to improve planning and tracking of capital projects.
During discussion, committee member Jake Tuck asked whether the Select Board had considered hiring a mechanic to service town vehicles. Members agreed the idea could extend vehicle life, save money and reduce the need to wait for outside appointments. The committee did not take formal action but expressed support for exploring the option.
The group also discussed the Police Department vehicle replacement schedule and adding those vehicles to the matrix. Karl Kelly said he will bring the vehicle-replacement schedule to the Select Board for its consideration; Bill Frye said recurring vehicle purchases might be more appropriate as an annual budget item, while Kelly said including them in the Capital Reserve Fund would help long-term planning. No formal vote was recorded.
