Campton board accepts $80,000 Northern Shield grant; approves tech and AI policies

Chair Sharon Davis opened a public hearing on the Northern Shield Grant; Selectman Sherrill Howard moved to open the hearing and Selectman Mort Donahue later moved to accept the grant. The board voted unanimously to accept the $80,000 award after Chief Kevin Foss expanded on the grant during the hearing and there were no public questions.
The vote concluded a brief public-hearing process: the board opened and closed the hearing during the meeting and then recorded the motion to accept the award (motion by Selectman Mort Donahue; second Selectman Sherrill Howard). The minutes record unanimous approval for the acceptance.
In related business, the board approved a package of technology policies covering acceptable use and acceptable use with AI tools (motion by Selectman Mort Donahue; second Selectman Sherrill Howard). That motion was approved unanimously. The consent agenda was also approved unanimously (motion by Selectman Sherrill Howard; second Selectman Craig Engel).
Separately, the board voted to seal non-public minutes under RSA 91-A:3, II (b & c) following a non-public session held earlier in the meeting (motion to seal by Selectman Craig Engel; second Selectman Mort Donahue). The minutes record the board entering non-public session at 5:01 p.m. and returning at 5:30 p.m.
