Selectman Mandy Berry abstains as board approves her use of Grange Hall for Oct. 26 craft fair

Selectman Gary Wight moved to allow Berry to use the Grange Hall at no charge and Selectman Virgil Conkright seconded. The minutes record that Selectman Berry abstained; the motion carried with two yes votes and one abstention.
The minutes do not record debate about the request or state whether the abstention was declared as a conflict of interest; they simply record the motion, second and the abstention. The board’s routine approval of facility use requests is consistent with prior practice noted in town records.
Separately, the board also approved a motion to close the town office Oct. 2–3 so staff could attend the MMA convention; that motion passed unanimously.
