Ware County reviews three audit proposals; commissioner suggests rotating long-time auditor

County Manager James Shubert told the commission that the county solicited proposals for auditing services, including the single-audit requirement. The three proposals reported were Carr, Riggs & Ingram (CRI) at $325,815 (including the single audit), Mauldin & Jenkins at $344,000, and McNair, McLemore, Middlebrooks & Co at $388,200.
Accounting Supervisor Beverly York told commissioners that the firms have comparable histories. Commissioner Leonard Burse said it might be prudent to rotate auditors because CRI has served as Ware County’s auditor since 2012.
Shubert said the request was for four years of services plus a single audit and that the item will be brought forward on the regular meeting agenda for possible award. No auditor was selected during the work session.
The work-session record shows the county is weighing cost and vendor rotation as considerations before formal contract selection.
