Board reviews second-draft budget, requests concise summary and schedules workshop

Board members suggested changing a budget column label from "encumbered" to "estimated" to improve clarity. Nancy Hegy Martin asked for a one-page summary at the start of the budget packet similar to the format used by Cornwall Consolidated School; Business Manager Sam Herrick had presented a PowerPoint comparing Sharon Center School with Cornwall during the review.
The board directed staff to set up a budget workshop for further discussion. At the same meeting the board also asked that the school credit card policy be reviewed by the district attorney and rewritten, and tabled the five-year capital building project plan until the next meeting. A walk-through of facilities was scheduled for Feb. 26, 2025.
