Nevada picks Landmark Aquatic for pool renovation; council advances contract to first reading

Parks and Recreation Director Richard Brockman told the Nevada City Council on March 3 that the city received six responses to a request for qualifications for the pool renovation project. The Park Board scored the submissions, invited the top three to present at a January meeting, and recommended Westport Pools, LLC, doing business as Landmark Aquatic, based on specialization in pools, available maintenance staff and local proximity.
Brockman described planned updates and additions: repairs and updates to existing features plus new attractions including climbing walls, a basketball area, a ninja course, a splash pad, a lazy river and a lap pool. The city expects to reuse the existing bathhouse and has allocated $800,000 for its plumbing, interior updates and a new mechanical room. A Landmark representative attended the meeting to discuss the design.
Councilperson Bill Miles moved to place Bill No. 2026-011 on first read by title only; Councilperson Kendall Vickers seconded. Mayor Branham read the title; the first read passed on roll call with Branham, Miles, Selby and Vickers voting in favor. The minutes record the first reading vote but do not indicate final contract approval that night.
