The board heard several service announcements affecting residents: Dennis Library will remain open until July 11 and then close for renovations for approximately 10 months, with a book drop remaining available through July 22. A mobile library (the 'dot mobile library') will operate at 15 Trinity Street in Newton on Mondays 2–5 p.m., Wednesdays 4–7 p.m., and Fridays 10–1 for the duration of the closure.
County health staff announced a women's health screening clinic on Thursday, July 23, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Office of Public Health Nursing, 201 Wheatsworth Road, Hamburg, available to Sussex County residents without insurance for routine screenings through the New Jersey Cancer Education and Early Detection (JCED) program. Appointments were directed to the Office of Public Health Nursing at (973) 579-0570, extension 1246.
The health division reported 121 tick-borne illness cases in June 2026 (including Lyme disease, anaplasmosis, alpha-gal syndrome and babesiosis), a decrease from 134 cases in June 2025. Staff reiterated standard prevention measures for residents and pet owners and advised prompt tick checks after outdoor activity.
The board did not make new policy decisions on these items during the meeting but announced the schedules and services for residents to use while the library renovation proceeds.
