Sussex County commissioners approve grouped resolutions, contracts and financial bills; executive session set

The Sussex County Board of County Commissioners on July 8 unanimously adopted grouped resolutions A through N and then approved Resolution O in a separate roll-call vote that recorded one abstention. The board also approved contract awards and the county bills lists and the personnel agenda for 07/08/2026.

The chair opened the consent portion of the meeting and the board moved to adopt the grouped resolutions A–N. The roll call for that vote was recorded as yes from the voting members present. When Resolution O was called separately, a deputy director recorded an abstention; the resolution passed without a recorded no vote.

During the contract awards and change-order discussion a commissioner noted errors in a draft resolution (an incorrect year and a missing dollar amount). County staff stated the award to an elevator vendor is a not-to-exceed contract but did not have the exact cap available at the meeting and the resolution was corrected to reference 2027 before the vote.

In financial business the board approved Bills List A and then Bills List B. The transcript records one abstention on Bills List B with the remaining votes recorded as yes. The personnel agenda for the meeting date also passed on a roll-call vote; the transcript lists approval without detailing individual personnel transactions on the public record.

Before moving to a closed executive session, the board adopted the executive session resolution citing NJSA 10:4-12 and NJSA 10:4-13 and stating the matters to be discussed relate to collective bargaining (PBA prosecutor) and attorney-client-privileged litigation matters; the board said it did not expect to take public action upon reconvening except to adjourn.

The meeting then entered executive session.
