Rahway council introduces multiple ordinances, adopts consent agenda and second-reading ordinances; public hearings set for Aug. 3
Summary

The Rahway City Council on July 6 moved to introduce multiple ordinances and adopted several items on second reading and via the consent agenda.
Administrator Matt Pukovich summarized the ordinances and resolutions on the agenda, including a cap-bank ordinance to exceed municipal appropriation limits by title (O-17-26), a refunding bond ordinance tied to terminal-pay obligations (O-18-26), a bond ordinance for acquisition of vehicles (O-19-26), an ordinance providing for construction of a municipal parking lot on Fulton/Pierce Street properties (O-20-26), funding for demolition of city-owned structures (O-21-26) and the adoption of a redevelopment plan for Block 277 Lot 10 (O-22-26).
Council moved and seconded to introduce ordinances O-17-26 through O-22-26; the roll-call votes were recorded and the ordinances were deemed introduced on first reading and scheduled for public hearing and final adoption on Aug. 3, 2026, at 7 p.m.
On second reading, the council opened and closed the public hearings for O-15-26 (repeal and replace filming regulations) and O-16-26 (water and sewer chapter amendment to add water leak adjustments) and then adopted both ordinances by roll call.
The council also adopted the consent agenda (resolutions AR-148-26 through AR-174-26) in a single vote. Those resolutions included authorization for a cell-tower lease/sale to the highest bidder, a CDBG agreement with Union County, appointment of an alternate member to the environmental commission, engineering contracts for Pierce Street demolition and parking-lot design, an IT services contract award to Tri State Technical Services, purchases for police vehicles, a lead-service replacement phase and roadway paving grants.
