The New Melle Planning and Zoning Commission reviewed proposed revisions to the city’s Chapter 235 (Food Service Establishment Code) addressing food truck and vendor licensing at its March 3, 2026, meeting.
Chairman Stefanko called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. Commissioner Duggan moved to approve the agenda and Commissioner Sims seconded; the motion passed unanimously. Commissioner Cummins then moved to approve the minutes of the Jan. 13, 2026, regular meeting, a motion seconded by Commissioner Duggan and approved unanimously.
Under Old Business the commission examined food truck regulations drawn from several other municipalities. Mr. Geries Shaheen provided a Google.Doc he designed as a draft Food Truck/Vendor License Application to illustrate what a local form might include. City Clerk Gay requested that the draft be converted into a PDF to match the city’s existing permit application format and said the Google.Doc could serve as a guide for the official form.
The commission discussed revisions and additions intended to ensure the ordinance captures necessary documentation and procedural requirements for vendor licensing under Chapter 235. No final ordinance language was adopted; commissioners agreed to review a proposed ordinance revision at a future Planning and Zoning meeting for additional consideration.
No members of the public spoke during Open Forum. The Code Enforcement Officer was absent and provided no report. The commission scheduled the next regular meeting for Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall, 145 Almeling St., New Melle. Commissioner Sims moved to adjourn, Commissioner Duggan seconded, and the meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
Votes at a glance: the motions to approve the agenda and to approve the Jan. 13 minutes were both passed unanimously by the commissioners present. No ordinance vote occurred; the food truck regulation changes will return for additional review.
