Planning and Zoning Commission to continue review of food truck, vendor regulations

The New Melle Planning and Zoning Commission reviewed proposed revisions to the city’s food truck and vendor rules at its Feb. 3, 2026 meeting and agreed to continue work on a draft ordinance at the commission’s next meeting on March 3.
Commissioners examined food-truck regulations from several other cities and made revisions and additions intended to clarify the documentation required under Chapter 235, the city’s Food Service Establishment Code. The commission did not take a final vote; the item remains listed under Old Business for further drafting.
Mr. Geries Shaheen provided a Google.Doc he designed as a possible Food Truck/Vendor License Application; the record notes that the form is thorough and could serve as a guide. City Clerk Gay said she would prefer to receive that application as a PDF so it conforms with existing city permit applications.
The commission scheduled review of a proposed ordinance revision at its next Regular Planning and Zoning meeting on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall. No formal action on the ordinance was taken on Feb. 3.
