Fenton to pursue CDBG funding for Porter Hollow sewer project; board reviews administrative items

At its June 24 work session the Town of Fenton reviewed one outstanding Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) matter and discussed pursuing a CDBG grant for the Porter Hollow sewer project.
Town Attorney Richard H. Miller III reported the unresolved CDBG matter pertains to a homeowner who died one year after CDBG-funded work was completed; the program requires beneficiaries to remain in the assisted home for five years after work is finished. The board agreed Miller will research the file further.
Councilman Richard Pray asked whether the CDBG program remains available for the Porter Hollow sewer project; Supervisor David Gunster confirmed the Town plans to apply for CDBG funding for that project once the board decides how to address site issues.
The board also instructed Attorney Miller to review a hiring-agency agreement with Express Employment Professionals before reporting back. Supervisor Gunster said he is editing the Town’s Employment Policy for review at the July 29 work session.
Additionally, bank representatives met with town staff about M&T Bank’s Positive Pay service to help prevent check and ACH fraud. The Town will begin using Positive Pay in the Bookkeeper’s office and later expand it to the Court Office and Town Clerk’s Office.
The meeting concluded at 6:42 PM following a motion to adjourn by Deputy Supervisor Moss and a second from Councilman Pray.
