Fenton Board OKs $18,000 water-fund adjustment after Chenango Valley High School break

The Town of Fenton on Wednesday approved a budget modification to cover expenses the town incurred responding to a water main break at Chenango Valley High School.
Under Resolution #2026-09 the board agreed to increase the Water Department appropriation account SW8340.407 — Service Repair/Replacement — by $18,000, to be funded from Water Revenue Account SW2378; the amount represents reimbursement the Town received from the Chenango Valley School District for the March incident. Councilman Richard Pray moved to adopt the resolution, and Deputy Supervisor Thomas Moss seconded the motion. A roll-call vote recorded Moss, Pray and Supervisor David Gunster as voting aye; Councilman Thomas Cook and Board Member Michael Husar were absent. The motion carried.
The resolution, as read at the June 24 work session, directs the appropriation increase specifically to fund repair purposes tied to that incident. The board did not alter other Water Fund line items at the meeting.
The board took the vote during a regularly scheduled work session at Fenton Town Hall. No public comment on the resolution was recorded.
