Walton board discusses county evacuation plan, local emergency shelter and watershed local-match funding

Supervisor Joseph Cetta told the Town Board Jan. 13 that Delaware County is developing a countywide evacuation plan and that he would invite a county representative to present to the board when the plan is finalized. Councilwoman Patty Wood urged urgency in developing Walton's emergency shelter plan; Cetta said a church committee is currently working on that plan and will present to the board upon completion.
Cetta also reported that Sean Leddy received the signed Watershed Program contract from the state and is working to secure additional funding to cover the 25% local-share required by the program. He said a meeting will be scheduled to discuss what the Town and Village can do to reduce that local share.
During public floor time, resident Bjorn Eilertsen introduced himself and said he is running for mayor and hopes to bring ideas to the board. The remarks drew routine acknowledgment; no formal action on evacuation, sheltering or watershed match was recorded.
