Walton board approves 2024 budget amendments, vouchers and declines current bids

The Walton Town Board approved a set of actions at its Feb. 10 meeting, including adoption of 2024 budget amendments, authorization of vouchers for payment, and a motion to decline current bids and pursue counteroffers.

On Resolution #42, councilman Leonard Govern moved and Luis Rodriguez-Betancourt seconded approval of the 2024 budget amendments to close out the fiscal year; the minutes report the motion passed with all board members in favor.

On Resolution #43 the board approved vouchers as presented. The minutes list the voucher totals as follows: General Fund A (vouchers #21–33) $60,660.34; General OV B (#2–3) $1,002.54; General HWY DA (#7–18) $177,920.40; OV HWY DB (#3–4) $1,757.21. Councilman Luis Rodriguez-Betancourt moved and Patty Wood seconded the motion; the minutes state 'all in favor; motion carried.'

The board also addressed procurement on a separate motion. On Resolution #41, Councilman Kevin Armstrong moved and Leonard Govern seconded to decline the current bids and make counteroffers; the minutes indicate the motion carried with all in favor. Highway Superintendent Jeff Offnick had reported spreading roughly 2,100 cubic yards of winter abrasive this season and raised non-urgent equipment and auction items for later consideration.

Finally, the board voted to enter executive session for contract negotiations (motion by Leonard Govern, seconded by Luis Rodriguez-Betancourt); the public meeting went into executive session at 7:25 p.m. and adjourned at 8:05 p.m. The minutes record no individual vote tallies beyond the board statement that motions passed 'all in favor.'
