Dana’s speed sign shows modest speeds on Birch Street; council declines to change yield signs to stops

Town Marshal Christopher MacLaren told the Dana Town Council on April 14 that the portable speed limit sign is left in place for 30 days to collect averages and will then be turned toward Crestwood for another 30‑day period. The data from Birch Street showed an average speed of 24.1 miles per hour, a highest recorded speed of 42 miles per hour and an average of three violators per day.
After reviewing the data, the board decided not to change yield signs to stop signs at this time. MacLaren invited residents to suggest future placement locations for the speed sign.
The board said it will continue to monitor speed data as the sign is rotated to new locations and evaluate whether additional traffic control measures are warranted.
