The Town of Dana board spent a portion of its Aug. 12 meeting on operational matters including code enforcement, the town website and payment services, delinquent water accounts, and capital needs.
On code enforcement, the board agreed that cleanup letters will be mailed in batches of ten and that photographic evidence of property conditions must be documented before enforcement actions are taken. The board discussed abandoned vehicles and said it will consider using bonded tow services.
On digital services, the board noted the town website has not been fully updated because information is missing. The board said it will schedule a presentation with the payment-services vendor Deluxe to review potential savings on transaction fees and security features. Separately, the minutes record that the board approved payment owed to the town website manager for 2025.
Regarding utilities, the board noted several residents are behind on water payments and directed that reminder letters be sent; the minutes state noncompliance may result in service shutoff but do not list specific thresholds or timelines.
On capital projects, the board discussed a proposed new town shop building measuring 40 by 48 feet for storage and installation and said it is awaiting contractor bids and cost estimates before further action.
Department reports included a Water Department update that hydrant flushing has been completed with minor repairs ongoing. Public Safety reported a truck needing wheel-bearing and tire repairs and a motion was recorded to have the repairs completed. The board also discussed a proposal to set aside funds for tree removal and replacement due to aging trees.
In public comment, residents raised concerns about cleanup letters, abandoned homes and tree replacement; community members highlighted needs among veterans and elderly residents. The minutes name Inee Mayham as working with a grant to assist elderly residents and veterans with cleanup and repairs and direct residents to contact the Town Clerk for more information.
The board adjourned and set its next meeting for Sept. 9 at 7:00 PM.
