BZA delays vote on Buckleys' Juneway Drive pool variance until July meeting

The Town of Long Beach Board of Zoning Appeals on June 10, 2026 agreed to postpone a final vote on a variance petition from William and Mary Buckley, who seek permission to install an in-ground pool and rebuild an existing retaining wall at 2011 Juneway Drive.
The Buckleys’ petition (seeking a variance from Section 154.052(C), Construction and Location Standards for Accessory Uses and Structures) had a preliminary hearing on April 8 and a public hearing that opened May 13 and was continued to the June 10 meeting. At the start of the June 10 meeting the petitioner asked the board to defer the final vote until the regularly scheduled July meeting.
Attorney Chris Willoughby told the board the public hearing had been completed at the May meeting and that the board was in a position to vote. At the petitioner’s request, Seth McCormick moved to continue the vote to the July meeting; Charlie Goodall seconded the motion. The motion carried with all members present voting in favor.
The board also clarified during the meeting that proxy votes submitted by a BZA member are not permitted under its procedures. The vote on the Buckleys’ variance will be placed on the agenda for the July meeting for final action.
