Darmstadt council approves Wessler Engineering quote to pursue MS4 waiver

The Darmstadt Town Council voted unanimously on June 17 to accept a quote from Wessler Engineering to prepare and submit a Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) waiver to the state.
Council Member Cecil Poag moved to accept Wessler's proposal to prepare the waiver for up to $3,500; Ray Engler seconded the motion and the council approved it by a 4-0 voice vote. Dean Rogers of Wessler Engineering attended the meeting and summarized what MS4 compliance entails and described the waiver option Wessler recommended.
Clerk-Treasurer Mallory Lowe had earlier noted Wessler prepared two proposals for the town's consideration: a waiver request and a full MS4 program. The council chose the waiver path at this meeting; no further action on a full MS4 program was taken.
The motion directs staff to work with Wessler on the waiver submission. Council members did not debate alternative engineering proposals at length during the meeting; the formal motion and vote provide the authorization to proceed with the waiver effort.
The council adjourned at 7:23 p.m.
