Maintenance updates; council to hold special meeting on reinstating portable parking meters

DARMSTADT, Ind. — Maintenance staff updates at the Sept. 17 council meeting included repainted line striping, a 40‑ton salt order from the state program, ongoing septic inspections and pumpings, GeoSpatial GIS work, and removal of a downed tree on Martin Road.
Council member Cecil Poag read the maintenance report prepared by Aaron Enlow and Mick Moreland and said crews coordinated with a line striping contractor to repaint lines around town. Poag said the town ordered 40 tons of road salt under the State Salt purchase program and reported septic tank inspections and pumpings are proceeding as planned.
Poag moved that the council revisit reinstating portable parking meters; Ray Engler seconded the motion. The council agreed to announce a public special meeting to discuss reinstatement; the minutes record scheduling the special meeting but do not include a final vote on reinstatement.
The maintenance report also noted that residents Kate Potter and Carol Schlumpf expressed interest in beautifying a corner owned by Don Hall at the fork where Hoing breaks off from Boonville‑New Harmony Road.
