EDC outlines active recruitment projects; workforce outreach and treasurer's report presented

Scott Drachnik, president and CEO of the Economic Development Council of St. Charles County, briefed the Port Authority on the EDC's mission and active business leads. Drachnik said Project Genesis and Project Holiday are pending public announcements; the EDC is also working on a data center prospect seeking a smaller renovation-ready space and on efforts to replace a closing General Mills plant (Project Reboot, which could become Project Fuju if a new food-processing company locates there). He noted Smartt Airfield is exploring expansion and protections that may make it a future Port Authority partner.
Lori Myers, Director of St. Charles County Workforce & Business Development, described AIM Zone outreach and summarized workforce services — on-the-job training, work experience options, apprenticeships and federal workforce programs the department has operated since the 1970s. Myers said Workforce Development staff can provide basic AIM Zone information and Port Authority contact details to employers during outreach.
Michael Hurlbert delivered the monthly treasurer's report packet and said total expenses through March 2026 were $322,417.19, with payments of $291,409.00 received to offset expenses.
The board discussed scheduling and logistics but took no substantive policy votes. Recording Secretary Stacy Lorenz notified members that the July 8, 2026 meeting will be held in Room 116 of the St. Charles County Administration building because Council Chambers will be unavailable. The meeting adjourned at 9:27 a.m.
