Commissioners approve Smokka Sewer District repairs and routine fiscal transfers

Clerk (S2) read the consent items — including payment of bills 1–112 and several appropriations and transfers — and commissioners approved them by roll call. The board then approved a quote from Chime and Tin Construction Services Inc. and Allied Tactical Services Inc. for materials and labor related to a boom‑line and lead‑line addition at the Smokka Sewer District.
Jamie, the development authority executive director who briefed the board during the meeting, described an ongoing intake issue in Smokka’s southern sewer district that has required frequent backwashing and driven up operational costs. Jamie said the approved work is intended to improve intake performance, reduce backwash cycles and lower overall operating expenses.
All motions were approved by roll call during the meeting. Staff will proceed with contracting and project scheduling for the Smokka work and will return to commissioners with implementation details as they are available.
