Morrow County development staff announced during the June 22 commissioners session that the governor signed a state capital budget that included multiple awards for the county.
Jamie, the development authority executive director, said Flying Horse Farms was awarded $350,000 and that the county received a package of awards totaling roughly $3,000,000 — the largest total the county has received in a single capital package, Jamie said. Jamie also noted the commissioners’ office had requested $250,000 toward a BD project and that the state provided $700,000 toward grandstand improvements at the county fairgrounds.
Jamie said the development team will meet with the fair board that evening and with a grandstands committee to discuss the parameters of the award and next steps. Commissioners thanked legislative partners for their support in securing the funds.
The awards are expected to guide project planning and meetings are scheduled to determine how the funds will be allocated and spent; staff emphasized that additional meetings and vetting will follow before construction or contracts move forward.
