"I haven't been able to find anything online where it was an agenda item for the board to approve contracting cleanup," Michelle said, and added that a health-department order related to the property had expired. County staff said they would contact the property's attorney and proceed if the owner did not act.
In the same meeting a commissioner moved that the board go into executive session for the stated purpose of reviewing landfill supervisor applications; the board voted to enter executive session and recessed the public meeting.
Officials said the nuisance-removal process requires notice and a period for the owner to respond before the county takes legal action. Staff told the resident to follow up with county staff by email and said they would bring the item back as an agenda item if further action was required.
Next steps: county staff will contact the property attorney and follow the board-directed nuisance process; the board will review landfill supervisor applications in executive session, which is a personnel matter.
