Queenstown approves small contracts, declines Tower Point lease purchase offer

President Thomas B. Willis Jr. moved to accept Rauch, Inc.’s month‑to‑month Smart Site Service Agreement for $50 per month for site access; Commissioner Alton Hardee Jr. seconded and the motion carried 3–aye, 0–nay.
Clerk Amy Moore reported she solicited a bid from Long Fence to install chain‑and‑post fencing around a new park parking area. Commissioner Alton Hardee Jr. moved to accept Long Fence’s proposal for $3,398.00; Commissioner Holger Schuster seconded and the motion carried 3–aye, 0–nay.
Moore also presented an offer from Tower Point to purchase the town’s AT&T and T‑Mobile leases with 10‑ and 15‑year installment options. Hugh Odem of Vertical Consultants reviewed the proposals and advised against selling, saying the offers were undervalued, would effectively have the town finance the purchase and would add encumbrances that reduce town control. Commissioner Alton Hardee Jr. moved to decline Tower Point’s offer; Commissioner Holger Schuster seconded and the motion carried 3–aye, 0–nay.
