Queenstown commissioners approve tire purchase for town trucks, hear WWTP and ditch updates

President Thomas B. Willis Jr. moved the commission approve buying new tires for the town dump truck and work truck from Paul’s Tire Service after staff provided price comparisons with Doug’s Tires and Western Auto; Commissioner Al Hardee seconded and the motion carried, vote 2-aye, 0-nay.
Town Manager/Clerk Amy Moore told the commission White Marsh purchased a sump pump—an item not included in the plant’s original design—to transfer water from the Emergency Storage (ES) tank to the Equalization (EQ) tank at the wastewater treatment plant. Moore said the measure will help keep the ES tank available to handle inflows during heavy rain events.
Moore also reported an overage charged by contractor John English for ditch work on Maryland Avenue. She said when the culvert was excavated staff found accumulated dirt inside the pipe and so the ditch needed to be lowered further to restore proper flow. As a corrective step, Moore said new pipe was installed and covered so property owners would retain access across their properties.
The actions address routine maintenance and operational resiliency for town vehicles and wastewater infrastructure; the commission recorded the motions and moved on to other agenda items.
