Town accepts lower electric pricing from Freepoint; Treasurer draws $50,000 CD for USDA loan payment

The Queenstown Commissioners voted 3-0 on July 25 to accept a lower electric supply price from Freepoint — $0.05475 per kilowatt-hour for a 46-month term — conditioned on contract review and approval by Town Attorney Brynja Booth.
Amy Moore, the Town Manager Clerk-Treasurer, told commissioners that a better price had been received from Freepoint following an earlier approval of Champion; President Willis moved to accept the Freepoint pricing with the condition of attorney review, Commissioner Alton Hardee seconded, and the motion passed 3-0.
Moore also presented the Treasurer’s Report showing balances: General Fund checking $269,255.53; Water Sewer Fund checking $22,850.63; WWTP Project checking $13,498.34. She told the Commission that $50,000 had been drawn from a sewer fund certificate of deposit to make the last-quarter USDA loan payments. President Willis asked staff for a tally of costs the Town has incurred related to infiltration and inflow (I&I) and membrane problems at the wastewater plant (frack tank rentals, overtime, camera work, et cetera).
No contract start dates or lender confirmations were provided at the meeting; the Freepoint acceptance was conditioned on legal review and final contract approval by the Town Attorney.
