Union County commissioners approve $3,200 contract reduction, lease temporary offices and move meetings during courthouse construction

The board also voted to accept a lease with Dakota Dunes, Inc. for the property at 122 W Main Street. Commissioner Dailey moved and Commissioner Ustad seconded the lease acceptance; the space will be used to relocate the offices of the Auditor, Treasurer and Register of Deeds while courthouse work proceeds. The motion carried.
To ensure continuity of public meetings during construction, Commissioner Ustad moved and Commissioner Ballard seconded that regular commission meetings be held at Elk Point City Hall beginning July 7; that motion carried.
The board noted that four commissioners will attend an upcoming district meeting in Vermillion; the minutes record that no county business will be conducted at that event. The special session was adjourned at 10:52 a.m. on a motion by Commissioner Ballard, seconded by Commissioner Dailey, and the board set its next meeting for June 23, 2026.
