The Presque Isle Planning Board on April 16 approved draft changes to Chapter 16 of the city’s Land Use and Development Code and set a public hearing for May 7, 2026, to solicit comment on the revisions. The board moved the agenda to prioritize the Chapter 16 discussion and bypassed two scheduled items to focus on the proposed code updates.
The proposed revisions under review cover multiple sections of Chapter 16, including definitions; the use table of zones; the standard table of zones; administration and applicability of development review; parking, loading and traffic; and residential development standards. Chair Andy Flewelling said the draft reflects changes the board must consider in light of a State of Maine mandate under Title 30-A – Municipalities and Counties, § 4363-A, which generally allows up to four dwelling units in residential areas.
Ward Gerow moved to approve the changes and to schedule the May 7 public hearing; Dave Perry seconded the motion. The board recorded the vote as 3-0-1, with Tim Vernon abstaining and Chairman Flewelling not voting. The minutes from the board’s March 19, 2026 meeting were approved earlier in the evening by motion of Gerow, seconded by Vernon; that vote was recorded as unanimous.
No members of the public offered comments at the meeting. The meeting adjourned at 7:37 p.m. The board packet and draft code language were submitted with the minutes by Penny Anderson, Planning Assistant.
