Planning Board finalizes 2026 priorities: housing, vacant buildings, Land Use updates and Comprehensive Plan revision

The Presque Isle Planning Board finalized its formal goals for 2026 at the Feb. 5 meeting, agreeing to prioritize housing and vacant buildings, update Land Use policy, revise the Comprehensive Plan and conduct a formal review of Chapter 59A.
Deputy Director of Innovation & Development Tim St. Peter told the board that focusing on these areas will keep the board’s 2026 activities productive and aligned with the city's growth needs. The board reached consensus on the priorities following a review of the preliminary list prepared at the January meeting.
During general discussion staff said new binders containing the updated Comprehensive Plan and related materials will be prepared for the March meeting; members were asked to bring their current binders to receive the updated inserts. St. Peter also reported that recently introduced digital tools for developers have received positive feedback and will be continuously updated.
The board did not take any separate formal votes on policy changes at the meeting; the items were adopted as the board’s prioritized work plan for the year. The board adjourned at 7:16 PM.
