The Village of Michiana council voted 4–0 on May 9 to approve the 2025–2026 budget on first reading.
Treasurer Tracey McCay presented the financial report, saying the Pokagon Fund balance is $47,661 and explaining the pooling of bank accounts per auditor recommendations. Tracey told residents that anyone wishing to view the budget could make an appointment at the treasurer’s office.
The council also approved a motion, made by Tim McCarthy and seconded by Brian Cassidy, to roll over a maturing CD at 1st Source so long as the new rate meets or exceeds a 3.5% floor established by the council. Council member Mike Botelho moved to approve the check register totaling $48,560.77; Mike Mumper seconded and that motion passed.
