Fountain Inn’s police chief announced at the council meeting that the department will present a little over $24,000 in proceeds from the city’s April “superhero 5K” to The Little White House, a nonprofit that supports children, young adults and families affected by autism and other developmental disabilities.
The chief said the annual event, begun in 2019, raised funds through sponsors, participants and volunteers and that this year’s donation supports the nonprofit’s educational and therapeutic programs and family resources. “This is a program that we find beneficial,” the chief said, and thanked the community for its support.
Lou Grant, who the chief identified as overseeing The Little White House, responded briefly, thanking Fountain Inn for its ongoing support. A second nonprofit representative also expressed appreciation for the city’s long-term help.
The presentation was given during the council’s presentations segment; no related council action was required. The meeting record notes this is the seventh year the department has staged the event and used proceeds for the nonprofit’s programs.
