President Dale DeRolph called the Northern Local Schools Board of Education to order on Oct. 17 in the District Office Board Room. Treasurer Jennie Clifton presented the September 2024 financial reports, which the board approved as part of a bundled finance motion.
The board voted 4-0 to approve the financial package, which included a resolution to rescind the Reserve Balance Account and direct the Treasurer to transfer the accumulated funds back to the General Fund pursuant to Ohio Revised Code Section 5705.13(A). The resolution states that the Reserve Balance Account had been funded by transfers from the General Fund and directs that all funds contained therein be returned to their original source.
Also included in the vote were the 2024-25 student activity account Statements of Intent and Purpose, multiple 'Then and Now' certificates and purchase orders (including payments for employment advertising, diploma orders and contest fees), budget adjustments for selected activity accounts, acceptance of several donations (including flags and clothing donations), and approval of an item for disposal (a broken SHS kitchen steamer unit).
The motion was moved by Board member Megan Miller and seconded by Board member Levi Dupler. Roll-call votes recorded Mrs. Cains, Mr. Dupler, Mrs. Miller and Mr. DeRolph voting "aye," with the motion carried 4-0.
The transcript records Treasurer Jennie Clifton presenting the reports and the board adopting the finance actions in a single package. The specific statutory reference cited in the resolution is Ohio Revised Code Section 5705.13(A), which the board included in its motion text.
