Pittsfield Community Preservation Committee approves minutes, hears four project presentations

The City of Pittsfield Community Preservation Committee convened on March 16, 2026, and approved the minutes of its March 9 meeting unanimously after a motion by Franz Forster and a second from Paula Albro.
The committee then heard four project presentations: Wild Acres (repairs to a fishing hut and southern boardwalk), Pontoosuc Lake Park (access stairs, bank stabilization and wetland conversion), Roots Rising Farm & Education Center (phased site work across about 6.5 acres, deer-fencing priority and a planned 2027 apprenticeship), and Williams Elementary School (phased accessible playground replacement). Presenters included Jim McGrath (City of Pittsfield), Jessica Veccia (Roots Rising), and Joe Simon (Williams Elementary). Committee members asked questions about accessibility, project timelines, and funding sources; no funding votes were taken on the projects during this meeting.
Kevin Rayner said remaining presentations and an Affordable Housing Trust item are scheduled for the committee’s meeting next week. Paula Albro moved to adjourn at 6:45 p.m.; Carol Nichols seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Minutes were submitted by staff member Ted Kozlowski.
